Sunday School Teaching

A. TEACH ONE CHARACTER LESSON EVERY SUNDAY;

Choose one of the following CHARACTERISTICS & point out the good & contrast it with the bad. (Check your concordance for other scriptures to aid the lesson)

B. IF AT ALL POSSIBLE FIND A BIBLE STORY TO TEACH AND REINFORCE THE GOOD AND BAD CHARACTERISTIC.

IF NOT, FIND OR MAKE UP A GOOD STORY THAT WILL HELP THEM SEE THE LESSON CLEARLY.

Example: The story of the little captive maid who served Naaman’s wife is a classic story of forgiveness instead of retaliation or good for evil instead of revenge; or of simply taking some very bad circumstances that God allows in your life and not murmuring or complaining but having a good faithful spirit in spite of them

C. ALWAYS STATE YOUR MAIN POINT

SEVERAL TIMES SO THEY WILL BE SURE & GET IT IN THEIR MINDS.

D. PICK THE SIMPLEST BUT BEST VERSE THAT TEACHES YOUR GOOD CHARACTERISTIC AND HAVE THEM MEMORIZE IT. (Be sure you memorize it yourself)

E. IF THAT VERSE CAN BE SUNG,

IT HELPS THEM MEMORIZE IT. OTHERWISE SING ONE OR MORE SONGS THAT REINFORCE THE LESSON FOR THE DAY.

F. ALWAYS REMIND THEM THAT IF THEY’VE FAILED TO LIVE UP TO GOD’S WILL

(i.e. they didn’t measure up to the good characteristic or did find themselves with the bad one) EMPHASIZE THAT GOD IS A FORGIVING GOD AND HE PROVIDES A WAY OF FORGIVENESS AND DESIRES TO FORGIVE. 1. FOR THE SAVED : 1 Jn.1:9 and Pr.28:13
2. FOR THE LOST : Give them the plan of salvation.
